Derek Stepan headed towards arbitration
Derek Stepan is looking for a nice raise. And one that he deserves.
According to Tim Wharnsby via twitter:
@nyrs_rangers #NYR offer: $5.2M; Stepan asking: $7.25M.

Stepan has played his entire NHL career with the New York Rangers. He made $3.8M last year, but his 2-year contract evenly counted $3M against the cap in both years.
He is one of the top RFAs available. It is very likely that he will resign with the Rangers. With his projected salary, it would cost the offering team a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick. Not likely to happen, which is why this is headed to arbitration.
