Fastest NHL Hat Trick
Hat tricks are a rare feat in hockey, especially in this day and age with reduced scoring. (Gordie Howe hat tricks, meaning a goal, an assist and a fight in the same game, are not the topic of today’s discussion.)
The fastest hat trick in NHL history belongs to Bill Mosienko. While playing for the Chicago Blackhawks against the New York Rangers in 1952, he scored a hat trick – three goals – in 21 seconds.
While we couldn’t find any 1952 video coverage, we do have a video of Taylor Hall’s hat trick from March of 2013. His feat was accomplished less than 8 minutes into the first period. Not the fastest, but impressive nonetheless.
